Secretary of State W. Fox McKeithen and the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum welcome the world's largest traveling dinosaur exhibit. The Russian Dinosaur Exhibition, from the Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, is now on display in the rotunda of the state museum. The exhibit, valued at $40 million, will be available for viewing through Nov. 15, 1999 December 31, 1999.

"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, to be able to see such an amazing collection of fossils and dinosaur skeletons," McKeithen said, "Everyone should make time to come out to the museum and see it."

Actual fossils make up 85 percent of the exhibit, with only 15 percent made up of casts. There are 60 different specimens, including 33 complete skeletons. Included in this exhibit for up close viewing are a 25 foot long adult Tyrannosaurus and a 19 foot tall duckbilled Saurolophus. The collection spans 180 million years, from late Permian through late Cretaceous periods.
