The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum
Shreveport, LA
A Vivid Splash of Color, an exhibition of 43 works by internationally
recognized artist M. Douglas Walton went on view at the Louisiana State
Exhibit Museum on Sunday, May 28th. Mr. Walton's works reflect his
sensitivity to nature, a characteristic which began early in his childhood.
An accomplished architect, Walton began painting in the early 1970s and
now conducts workshops for his students, who he takes on tours all over
the world. He also teaches international workshops in such places as
South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and The Hague.
Mr. Walton was awarded a National Communication award by the
National Council Communicate Disorders in Washington, DC.
His autobiography, A Special Kind of Silence was completed in 1987 and
explores his personal journey from the boy who could not speak to teacher --
who teaches his students to experience growth by changing their concepts.
Current admission fees are $3.00 for adults, $1.00 for students 6-17, and children
ages 5 and under are free. The building is handicap accessible.
The exhibit may be viewed during regular museum hours, 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday
through Friday, and noon until 4 PM Saturday and Sunday. It will remain on
view until July 26, 2000.
