TUTANKHAMUN: Wonderful Things from the Pharaoh's Tomb

King Tut TUTANKHAMUN: Wonderful Things from the Pharaoh's Tomb exhibition, sponsored by Friends of the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum, will open at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum on July 1, 2001, and will remain on view until December 31, 2001.

treasureTen years in the in the making, from the artisans of the Pharaonic Village in Cairo, the Field Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this dazzling collection of reproductions of Tutankhamun's legendary treasures recreates the richest archaeological find of all time.


Accompanied by a lively text, 94 replicas of the pharaoh's sacred and personal possessions, including his golden throne, jewelry, spectacular funerary mask, and royal mummy case, along with associated artifacts from the period surrounding Tutankhamun's reign reconstruct both the historic discovery of the tomb by Howard Carter and the life and times of Egypt's celebrated boy king.

treasures The artifacts are elegantly displayed on pedestals of simulated Egyptian granite. This classic exhibition vividly brings to life the enigmatic, opulent age of the 18th Dynasty Egypt.

treasuresAdmission fees will change during the run of the exhibition: $5.00 for adults, $1.00 for students 6-17, and children ages 5; and under age 5 are free. All scheduled school tours are free. The building is handicap accessible. The exhibit may be viewed during regular museum hours, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
